Posted here is a high level overview of the project.

The project is to be a secured, scaleable, multitentant, subscription based web-application that will automate the creation of schedules required by grade schools.
The design should be simple, very light in any graphics, and rely more on web 2.0 technologies for interactivity.

The primary value of this application: it will automate the division of time between staff members and follow the 'Business Logic' that will be entered by the user.

The 'Business Logic' for this application will involve restrictions and limitations on the availability of the staff, based on their Union agreements.

These business rules will mainly deal with such situations as
• "A full time employee cannot perform this function for more than 100 minutes per week"
• "A full time employee cannot be responsible for this for more than X hours per day"
• "All full time employees must have 65 uninterrupted minutes for lunch."

Technologies:

We would hope that the project will be completed using open source technologies:
PHP
MySQL
Apache, etc.

The code must be hand-written, rather than customization of an existing open-source product.

Open Source application frameworks such as Zend should be fine, but we will reserve final approval on the framework(s) chosen, if any.

We would like to see full utilization of AJAX, and a table free design (CSS), that is standards-compliant. The jqueryUI is probably the preferred interface style.

The application needs to be:
Secure (we will use SSL on the production environment)
Multitenant Payment-enabled (Paypal is good)

We can discuss other platform requirements. i.e. if you wish to write some of the project as a PHP Module in C/C++, etc.
