We are an information security company, launching and are seeking a web developer to develop a new corporate website. We require 3 mockups (preferably in fireworks), from which we will select the final design. The website will primarily be delivered in static html, with the exception of the contact us form, which is to be written in php. Specifications include:
Layout / Structure
The site is to be delivered in W3C compliant html using centralized css for all text and color attributes of the site, such that it can be easily modified in the future.
WeÂre looking for a homepage that will support the basic Âlarge top header rotating graphic with 3 smaller columns below. The homepage rotating graphic should be done in html, similar to http://www.netwitness.com/ . The site should be fixed width, such that it is 100% viewable in modern browsers without expanding default browser size.
Color scheme:
Background: White - mandatory
Text: Blue, Grey (silver),
Top Bar Menu - Orange
Subsections/Category Pages
All category pages and product pages should mock the layout here:
http://www.paloaltonetworks.com/products/features.html
Header graphic:
* the oversized middle splash graphic, integrated with the menu is a requirement.
right hand side menus:
We need two separate div classes, similar to the right hand menu (note the blue class and the silver class). Ie Ârequest online demo, contact sales, and Ârelated links.
Categories
The site will have 7 categories, including:
-Products
-Solutions
-Support
-News and Events
-Company
-Contact
-Blog
- Customer Portal
All categories should support (but not mandate) sub-categories. Similar to the menu at http://www.paloaltonetworks.com/
Other pages include: An error handling page for 403s and 404s that follows the site look and feel.
Navigation
Dynamic rollover menus, using javascript and text, with drop downs (like http://www.netwitness.com/).
Site Structure
Developer will need to utilize index files properly insure that there are no direct references to html files (ie  www.criticalassets.com/xyz or www.criticalassets.com/xyz/pdq is acceptable, while www.criticalassets.com/products/product1.html is not acceptable).
Primary Images will be located in a central directory (/images).
Primary css will be located in a central directory (/css).
Graphics
We will provide primary logo and product graphics (center etc). All other graphics to support site layout are to be provided by the developer.
Examples
http://www.paloaltonetworks.com/ - This is probably the closest to what weÂre looking for. This is a great looking site. I do not like the changing dimensions from the main graphic to the lower area of the homepage, but we do require it on the sub-pages.
http://www.netwitness.com/ - A good runner up. The rollover functionality in the menus is good. Also, the middle dynamic graphic is good, as it does NOT use flash.
http://www.netforensics.com/ - Good looking site, but needs a smaller middle graphic. Too much real estate used in the middle .Would be better spent on the 3 columns below.
http://www.rapid7.com/ - Great Layout. If the blue box spanned 100%, this would be a contender. As it stands, it seems slightly cluttered.
Copyright
All images and content need to either be original or unclaimable such that the company can claim copyright to the entire site.
