The intent of this Win32 'desktop'tool is to assist our clients in extracting result-set out of a specific database (SQLServer-based) belonging to a specific Network Management Tool, such as Microsoft’s SMS & SCCM.

**NOTE: There is no requirement to deploy or be knowledgable with Microsoft SCCM/SMS **
Each result-set (only one at this moment) requires invoking a SQL Query against the database.

The Data extraction tool will require the end-user to:
a)Declare which network management tool they will connect to
b) Identify-and attach to – that applications’ database located on the customer’s ‘network’.
c)Store the type of application and path to database for future usage
d)Choose which datasets they want to create (selection to be stored for future reference)
e)xecute the required SQL Queries (based upon ‘tool’ & dataset chosen)
f)Save each dataset as a MS Excel (97) XLS file on the end-users desktop (other other location)

The data extraction tool must:
Be written for a Win32 environment, and work in Windows XP & above, as well as WinServer 2000 & above.
Allow for any and authentication requirements (logging into the database, for example).
Allow for the update of new SQL queries based upon supporting a new Network Management tool for result-set ‘X’, and/or to create a new set of SQL queries to generate a new result-set ‘Y’
