A Java application receives TCP/IP communication via several ports.  When the application is running on a PC behind a router’s firewall, communication on these ports is potentially blocked. Rather than having users manually adjust their router for port forwarding a more automated solution is required.
The number of applications running simultaneously on separate PCs is unknown, but is likely to range from 10 to 100. Ideally though, the framework would be capable of supporting thousands.
The bid accepting developer will not be required to program the application, but pose an adequate solution using royalty free software (e.g. software license under a LGPL or BSD style license such as OpenSSH). This includes advice on setting up a simply, but secure forwarding framework as well as basic java examples which demonstrate use of the framework.
