We need to replace an existing GPS module (based on JSR179) in an existing application. The current module is experiencing inconsistent behavior across different RIM OS versions and devices. The new module should behave consistently across RIM OS versions ranging from v4.3 to v5.0, and across all Blackberry devices running these OS versions regardless of the carrier or network type (GSM, EDGE, CDMA etc).
In order to test this module, a simple application should be built that will perform the following:
1. Poll the GPS chip in fixed intervals and display results to the user. The display should contain:
a. Lat/Lon, direction, speed, Elevation
b. Time to acquisition (the time it took the GPS chip to acquire location)
c. Number of failed attempts
d. Location method used (e.g., assisted, autonomous, etc)
e. Location Accuracy (horizontal/vertical)
f. GPS Chip state (available/unavailable etc)
2. Allow the user to change the GPS polling intervals (from 3 seconds up to 10 minutes)
3. Allow the user to manually reset the GPS chip
Developers bidding for this project should:
1. Be INTIMATELY familiar with RIM OS and JSR179
2. Have access to multiple BB devices to test the application. The more – the merrier.
